Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need therapy?

  • Therapy can be beneficial for various concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, and personal growth. If you are experiencing difficulties that affect your daily life, relationships, or emotional well-being, therapy may be helpful.

What happens in a therapy session?

  • Sessions typically involve discussing your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Therapists use various techniques and approaches to help you gain insights, develop coping strategies, and work towards your goals. The pace and focus of sessions depend on your needs and the therapeutic approach.

How long does therapy take?

  • The duration of therapy varies based on individual needs and goals. Some people may benefit from short-term therapy, while others may engage in more extended, ongoing treatment. Regular communication with your therapist can help determine the appropriate duration for your specific situation.

Is therapy confidential?

  • Therapists are bound by confidentiality rules, meaning they cannot disclose your information without your consent. However, there are exceptions, such as situations involving imminent harm to yourself or others. Therapists will typically discuss the limits of confidentiality during the initial sessions.

How can I make the most of my therapy sessions?

  • Be open and honest with your therapist, set realistic goals, and actively engage in the therapeutic process. Reflecting on your experiences between sessions and applying insights to your daily life can also contribute to the effectiveness of therapy.

What is the cost of therapy? Will my insurance cover it entirely?

  • The out-of-pocket expenses for each session typically range from $150 to $175. If you're utilizing insurance the practice accepts, the claim will be directly submitted to your insurance. In certain instances, clients may have a copay or deductible. Copays are settled at the time of each session using the credit card on file, and deductibles are also paid during each session. The deductible amounts vary based on your insurance plan. If you have any inquiries about copays and deductibles, reaching out to your insurance provider before your initial session is crucial to comprehend your per-session expenses. Many clients, however, still need copays or insurance deductibles.

Is it possible to engage in online therapy?

  • Presently, all our sessions are conducted through telehealth. Clients can log in to their client portal or SimplePractice and participate in sessions using a laptop, iPad, or even their phone, ensuring they can engage from the convenience of their home or any location they consider confidential.

Is there a fee for missed appointments?

  • Indeed. If you cannot attend your session, please inform your therapist at least 48 hours in advance. Provide timely notification to avoid a charge equivalent to the session fee, payable at the scheduled session time. For Medicaid and Medicare clients, a no-show policy applies after three instances of no-shows or late cancellations, and termination of services will occur.
